I had the honour to work as a live sound engineer for the Magnet in Liverpool on the 1st of December. I engineered the extraordinary musician Jon Coley and I assisted the band of Nick Harper and the Wilderness Kids as they have their own technician, John King. That night I oversaw the venue’s event, from setting up the stage’s gear, sound sent to the sound booth making sure the sound was impeccably sent back to the front house. The console that dwells in the venue is the Berhinger x32. I studied this console before the job as I did not used it previously. It is a smooth digital console, good response and the effects seem good enough. I used the reverb plate and it sounded clean and with depth. I found something quite disturbing tho, a male XLR connector stuck in the input. The cable was cut. I never saw anything like that before. smh

The sound checking of Nick Harper and the Wilderness Kids was operated by John King as aforementioned. I assisted by setting up the mics and the stage overall. We identified the accentuated frequencies by the mics, monitors and the room’s acoustics to equalise and mix the stage monitors. Working with John King was a fruitful and inspiring experience. I learned his methods and I felt his sheer passion for this profession. Jon Coley’s sound checking wasfluid, mixing the levels of his acoustic guitar and his voice was a pleasant experience. The reverb plate sent to his voice enveloped the room.
